This online intiative is definitely a welcome move, but the Govt of Assam should organise a formal program in the lines of Vibrant Gujarat or other states' inititiatives for the non-resident Indians hailing from the state. Something kind of a Probaxi Axomiya Divax will boost the morale of the non-resident fraternity and they will gather in the state at the same venue and at the same time.

We need to educate our people (not in terms of academic), in terms of their mindset. It was sad to see such a state of affair. After BJP came into power in Assam, our expectations have multiplied in terms of development, execution, governance, participation. All seems the same as the previous govt. left. What has changed is our Hon. CM and Mr. HBS tweets. On ground its not seen. I also understand Rome was not built in a day, but I could not notice the preparations to build Rome as well.

things everywhere on the road.
During this trip, unfortunately my driving license got expired. It was a nightmare for me to go and put up my file. I avoid brokers / agents for such things. I had to make 3 trips just to deposit the fees, why on earth are we still handling cash in govt. offices. Spoke to the DTO, as usual "Uporot ami koisu kintu teu luke jaane ki kore". Cash transactions leads to lot of loopholes. Agents flocking in and around the office making it inconvenient for public.

No traffic rules. Young riders without helmet, three riders on bikes. I was of the impression that Swach Bharat would have changed many things; to my surprise i see the place more filthy than earlier, garbage all over, foul smell near garbage bins, people putting up small markets all over the place, no place to walk over footpath, no one to take care of such reckless development. We talk about swach Bharat but I did not see any dustbins for thrash, so people make a merry by throwing ...

Greetings to all!

I travel every year to Guwahati during June/July which coincides with my Son's school holidays. Every year this trip is filled with excitement, plans, meeting friends & family, food & fun. The thought of being in ones own place is something which cannot be explained in words. However, to my dismay this time everything seemed so unorganized. Most roads that I traveled were worn out, potholes, water logging, dirt & dust. Traffic police are seen at the mercy of vehicles.

My views on Tourism in Assam and also in general is this that I feel that the most important thing that we always need and have always lacked is good infrastructure. It is really sad that to this day despite all so called developments in a city like Guwahati we are NOT able to prevent the devastating effects of natural disasters. Basic amenities like drinking water and good roads are still lacking. This needs to be addressed promptly without further delay.

2nd Suggestion:
Promote Assam Tourism outside of Assam and even abroad. I m from Dubai and I can arrange a Cultural Night here in Dubai to promote our tourism sector. All Indians, foreigners and local people visit new places every year and there is huge potential that we can add Assam as their next tourist destination. Entire Middle East can be covered, and we just need one good Event here in Dubai. You may contact me for further details, if really interested to promote our Tourism Sector.

I have 2 suggestions:

1. Start a new TV news channel in Assam, which should show positive and good news only. New and young generation needs positive atmosphere, NOT the negative and depressing News Channels that we currently have. You can't watch news channels, everywhere bad and negative news all around. There are positive news in all districts, now it's time to focus on positivity and also global news.

2. Promote Assam Tourism outside of Assam

I strongly feel that Government of Assam should take up a project akin to a modern day Noah’s Ark for our indigenous wildlife species. It can start by making a frozen zoo of our endangered species followed by their detailed genetic sequencing. This should be backed by exploring possibility of use of reproductive biotechnological tools like cloning at experimental scale.
