Inspiring Rural Women

Rural women play a crucial role in the country's economic development. Apart from their diverse roles in rural life, they are frontline players in the fields of agriculture, crop production, animal husbandry and livestock care, handloom, handicrafts and lots more. Their role in building climate resilience is vital too. In many rural regions, it is the women who take the major responsibility of collecting food, water and fuel for their families. They contribute significantly in ensuring food security and eradicating rural poverty. Even during times of crisis, these women work in silence and with utter dedication and perseverance.

Every year, October 15 is observed as International Day of Rural Women to recognise their roles and contributions in the rural set-up in particular and the society at large.

As part of the occasion, MyGov Assam intends to highlight stories of inspiring rural women as told by the public itself.
