At a time, when people are championing equality for girl children, a section of the society still regards the girl child as a liability. The thinking that boys deserve more than girls arises from our age-old societal construct. Cases of female foeticide, violation of basic human rights, physical and mental abuse, gender inequality, etc., are still prevalent and yet to be fully erased.
It is our duty to create a healthy environment for the girl children where they can grow without any fear and humiliation. A girl with proper access to resources today will become an empowered woman tomorrow. She should be able to pursue her dreams without any inhibitions.

On the occasion of National Girl Child Day, MyGov Assam seeks your suggestions on how can the various stakeholders contribute toward all round development of the girl children? Do you think the society is still lagging behind in ensuring safety for the girls? What are some steps you believe could help spread awareness toward safeguarding rights, dignity and aspirations of the girl child?

Early childhood is the most important phase of development of a person’s life. This is when cognitive, social and emotional skills are learned, influencing lifelong educational achievement, health and wellbeing. When young girls and boys are denied access to the opportunities, care and services they need to thrive and develop to their full potential, this affects the rest of their lives.

The society have to change there mindset. They should see a girl and a boy equally. Then only the society can develop.
They have to change the thinking that Girls are not liability. Girls are now breaking the records so as the others every girl should get their chance.

Every girl child has the human right to live with freedom, fly with the wings of dreams, participate in every field of challenging task when she grows up! Her childhood must offer her an ample opportunity to enrich her life through proper education & move out through her ideas of innovation, to duscover new things in life, to contribute her best for her family. She is "Bharat ki Lakshmi" whom all must respect & allow to grow, enjoy & live in peace & prosperity. NO GENDER BIAS, please!
