Assam being one of the emerging states of India, the transformation of villages into towns, towns into cities and improvement in the road connectivity has been witnessed throughout the state. Exponential growth in population and their increasing movements resulted proportional raise in number of motor vehicles of all sizes and shapes on the roads making traffic management extremely difficult to maintain smooth flow of traffic on the road. To make matters worse, pedestrians and other road users are joining the crowd. The situation is in such a worsening condition that the traffic managements have ended up being at the receiving end.
To tackle this man made menace an improvised and judicial system need to be in place in the form of traffic rules and regulations along with innovative infrastructural support base. Therefore, State Government invites suggestions from citizens to put forward their innovative ideas and suggestions to develop an organised traffic system, which will be conducive to the smooth flow of men and help in minimising and eliminating of traffic congestion.

Last date for submission of ideas is 25th May, 2017

Most important thing about traffic problems is 'lack of suitable drivers'.most driving licence holders of Assam is not actually fit for driving cause he does not even know the traffic rules and regulations..even there are some places where there no one obeys traffic rules.we should provide basic traffic training and bring awareness by conducting awareness programs.

I think till the the offices being shifted busses should be alloted to the govt offices so that its employee can use it and the traffic problem could be minimised, or we could make aware the people by showing an animated add,if atlest some people starts it....the rest will follow....

Guwahati is the most least planned city, the present scenario of traffic is already over crowded, five years from now, the situation will be out of control. It is high time that some measures are taken. Some suggestions are really nice that all govt offices should be shifted away from the heart of the city, or like private school children dropping should be avoided. What I see now that, each individual driving his own car, just imagine 100 individual driving there own car. I wished to write more

Traffic control is simple. Just replace this term by traffic management and town and country planning should be responsible for it. Govt. offices/establishments like Doordarshan, AIR, Railway, PWD, PHE, Directorate Health, etc should be removed from the heart of the city. All road should be constructed properly. Traffic police has been doing commendable job so far and enough rules and regulations are already there.

COMPULSORY SCHOOL BUS. Any private car dropping kids to school must carry min 3/max 4 kids. NOTE, this should be imposed only for dropping kids and not for picking them up back to home. This way the associated restrictions would appear to be somewhat relaxed and hence easier to impose the rule. Moreover, Parents are unlikely to pick their kids back to home, unless it is necessary for the kid. Plus this step would also help the kids with sense of equality and socializing among themselves.
