Assam being one of the emerging states of India, the transformation of villages into towns, towns into cities and improvement in the road connectivity has been witnessed throughout the state. Exponential growth in population and their increasing movements resulted proportional raise in number of motor vehicles of all sizes and shapes on the roads making traffic management extremely difficult to maintain smooth flow of traffic on the road. To make matters worse, pedestrians and other road users are joining the crowd. The situation is in such a worsening condition that the traffic managements have ended up being at the receiving end.
To tackle this man made menace an improvised and judicial system need to be in place in the form of traffic rules and regulations along with innovative infrastructural support base. Therefore, State Government invites suggestions from citizens to put forward their innovative ideas and suggestions to develop an organised traffic system, which will be conducive to the smooth flow of men and help in minimising and eliminating of traffic congestion.

Last date for submission of ideas is 25th May, 2017

Sir, making public transport systems more safe, secure and user
friendly will encourage citizens to voluntarily switch to public
transport systems and this will reduce traffic congestion to a
large extent. It will also help in reducing air pollution to a
large extent. Introduction of metro rail or suburban rail if possible, will help further in reducing traffic congestion.

Sir, more public transport systems should be introduced and also
existing transport systems must be upgraded. Citizens should be
encouraged and motivated to use public transport system as much
as possible. Awareness should be created about the need to use
public transport systems in order to reduce traffic congestions.
It will also help in reducing air pollution to some extent. Also, public transport systems must be made more safe, secure and user friendly.

Recruit manpower in police deptt in large numbers. Population police ratio is very poor in Assam.
Constable should be graduate level taking into consideration of changing time compared to British time.Time bound promotion should be there like IPS.Then there moral will be high during imparting duties.Strict penalty system should be introduced to traffic rule violators irrespective of position one holds.People still enjoying freedom from Britain and in no mood to follow public discipline.

People should be encouraged to follow traffic rules by examining them over CCTV camera, etc. They should be gifted with some awards and nonfollowers should be first warned and then on the spot minimum fine
