Assam’s ethnic cuisine has a special identity of its own. Different tribes and communities across the diverse land have their own unique traditional cuisines that add to the richness of Assam’s traditional food culture. On the occasion of World Photography Day, MyGov Assam conducts a photography competition based on the theme of Assam’s ethnic cuisine.

Top five photographs shall be showcased in different social media handles of MyGov Assam and the photographers of top five entries shall be presented certificates signed by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal.

Last date of submission: September 9, 2019

Terms & conditions:
One person can enter only up to 5 photographs
Photographs must be of high resolution
Mobile photographs shall also be entertained
Photographs should be sent along with details
Entry must include name, address and contact number of the photographer
Photographers of top five photographs shall be presented certificates duly signed by Hon’ble CM Shri Sarbananda Sonowal
MyGov Assam will reserve rights of all submitted photographs

This pic depicts the famous crispy and spicy Rohu Fish Fry- Maach Bhaja for all the fish lovers. One of the best fish recipe for everyone to binge on. All we need to mix the fish in turmeric,salt,ginger-garlic paste,chili powder and gently set the coated fish into hot oil until it turns golden brown.To make it more flavorsome we can add green chilies served with some finely chopped coriander leaves.

Bora Saul the favorite Assamese Jolpan prepared in the kitchen of all traditional Assamese household. A super sticky rice, can be used with curd/milk/cream & a small amount of jaggery/sugar can make it more delicious. In this pic is the fried version of Bora Saul soaked overnight & prepared in the morning with eggs, onion and garnished it with coriander & green chilly.

1st image : Fresh Silkworms to be stir fried.
2nd image : 101 different herbs and vegetables stirrfried.This is a must have traditional dish made on the first day of the festival of Bohag Bihu.
3rd image : Red ants larvae stirrfried with Onions ,chillies and garlic.This is also a traditional dish consumed during the festival of Bohag Bihu.These dishes are eaten with fermented cooked rice , which is prepared by soaking cooked rice in cold water overnight.
