It was September 5, 2018. Kamal Krishna Das, a student of Class 8 residing in North Guwahati, was crossing the Brahmaputra river on a bhutbhuti along with his mother and aunt. Halfway through this fateful journey, the boat malfunctioned and drifted away by the strong current before colliding with pillars of a under construction water supply project. The boat broke into pieces and sank. While most passengers were trying to save their own lives and some already drowned, this kid was calm and bravely rescued his mother and aunt. His act of bravery led him to win the National Bravery Award later. He also set a record recently by swimming across the Brahmaputra river.
