Government must keep in mind that only speed is not a cause of accidents. Jay walking, using slower vehicles in highways, roadside markets, wrong side driving are also penelaised. Also 80 kmph is too less speed for National Highways
High end vehicles with better braking and control must be permitted more speed. Trucks and unsafe vehicles must be given lower speed limits. Also lane driving must be emphasized.

Maximum speed on highways should be as per National Norms. Instead of covering the mistakes of NHAI by reducing speed limits in Assam, the GoA must strictly take actions on the companies who are building very low quality roads & bagging the money amongst corrupt lobbies. New constructed 4-way lanes have become like offroading track in Sivsagar & Moran areas after hardly been 6-7 months on contruction. Request to GoA is to not try cover up for NHAI failure & corruption by harrassing civilians.

Maximum speed limit for highways should be 100-120 kmp otherwise this will take more time....even one can't drive over 50 kmp in some areas.....e.g. from nagano to dibrugarh because of heavy traffic. For guwahti maximum speed limit should be 60-80 kmp.

The Highways are a The speed limit for Highways Should be 100 kmph in areas where the Highway is will isolated and it may be reduced to 60 or 80 in highway traffic areas. Potholes on highways are a major concern and lead to lot of accidents. Road markings should be done properly to imporve road safety. Fixing low speed limit is a archaic approach to solving road safety issues. I hope the authority rectifies the speed limit into more reasonable limits. Always, please use BI test for Highways.

Public awareness is more important than the speed limit, specially the people living near highway or roads. One 20 km/hr car may also killed any human similarly as a 80 km/hr car. So 1st build road awareness.
Wrong side driving car/tempo should be published heavily. Where service roads are available, all tempo/ e rickshaw to use the service road only not the highway.

Please use Nation wide norms, or else people will be just confused and that might cause accidents while driving or riding and please use of proper banners for speed limits.
