Assam being one of the emerging states of India, the transformation of villages into towns, towns into cities and improvement in the road connectivity has been witnessed throughout the state. Exponential growth in population and their increasing movements resulted proportional raise in number of motor vehicles of all sizes and shapes on the roads making traffic management extremely difficult to maintain smooth flow of traffic on the road. To make matters worse, pedestrians and other road users are joining the crowd. The situation is in such a worsening condition that the traffic managements have ended up being at the receiving end.
To tackle this man made menace an improvised and judicial system need to be in place in the form of traffic rules and regulations along with innovative infrastructural support base. Therefore, State Government invites suggestions from citizens to put forward their innovative ideas and suggestions to develop an organised traffic system, which will be conducive to the smooth flow of men and help in minimising and eliminating of traffic congestion.

Last date for submission of ideas is 25th May, 2017

The existing speed breaker at Kamakhya Gate on both side of roads have leveled down. As a result pedestrians, specially senior citizens and children crossing the road at Kamakhya Gate face great difficulty. Despite a number of requests to the PWD office, nothing has been done. I request the authorities concerned to create speed breakers in the form of rumble strips.

Rush driving and drunken driving should be monitored by the Transport Department and Highway Police should be there to check the high speed of the vehicles in the highway because more accidents occur in highways and death fatality is more . There should be some permitted limit of speed in different types of roads and there should be some monitoring mechanism of the speed as done in developed countries.
In general , most people have a tendency for fast driving, they should be discouraged .

Suggestions for City Buses in Guwahati :
1. Divide the Road in two or three lanes and direct the City buses to ply only in one lane - the outer most lane.
2. Please fix the stoppage time of 30 secs to stay in one one stop, otherwise impose Fine with Rs. 5000/-
3. The competition of overtaking by the City buses to be stopped. In most of the times they block the road with this type of competitions.
General suggestios :
There should be one traffic police posted at every Tini ali or Sari ali

I will be specific on utilizing the railway track route from jalukbari to Narengi. If we can bypass the Railway route of this portion the entire area that will be freed can be used for Bus Rapid Transit System(BRTS) similar as Gujarat's BRTS. Or the running buses can be moved to this specific railway track space. The outcome will be the roads will be completely free from buses which makes traffic Blockadge. Bus stops have to be strategicially placed looking on the passengers necessity.

I am from Silchar. My suggestion is to strictly control the movement of comnercial vehicles especially Auto Rickshaw.they should not stop here and there. Should not pick up or drop passenger on their right side, which is common in Silchar
Every crossing must have Road Divider for smooth running of the vehicles. One police person must be there at every lane crossing main road. This created chaos regularly.

1. Installation of camaras throughout the Roads as it is done in the foreign countries in the points and monitoring it centrally.
2. There is a need for the Government to make strict Rule to follow by the people by imposing fines for the Rule brokers (driver) (e.g use of mobile while driving etc.)
3. The speed limit should be decided by the Government for the complete roads and display it in the Boards in the Road side after a uniform distance.

My suggestion is to install CCTV and 24x7 monitoring the traffic as it has been seen in China, Singapore or other countries. Rule of the road will be restore. An mobile Apps which will be linked to the CCTV system so that the moment any violation seen it will be reported and necessary steps will be taken. The task load of traffic police will lesser and crimes will be controlled. Ji Hind Jai Aai Axom !!

Here are a few suggestions for Guwahati that can be implemented with immediate effect:

1. Impose heavy fine on vehicles parked on the main Srimanta Shankardev Road a.k.a. G. S. Road. The most highly affected areas are around the Six Mile Flyover, Ganeshguri Flyover and Ulubari Stadium Road. Use towing.
2. Remove all the make-shift stalls from the footpaths and roadsides.
3. Give dedicated areas to vendors away from the main roads.
4. Impose heavy fine on people who break traffic rules.
