Assam being one of the emerging states of India, the transformation of villages into towns, towns into cities and improvement in the road connectivity has been witnessed throughout the state. Exponential growth in population and their increasing movements resulted proportional raise in number of motor vehicles of all sizes and shapes on the roads making traffic management extremely difficult to maintain smooth flow of traffic on the road. To make matters worse, pedestrians and other road users are joining the crowd. The situation is in such a worsening condition that the traffic managements have ended up being at the receiving end.
To tackle this man made menace an improvised and judicial system need to be in place in the form of traffic rules and regulations along with innovative infrastructural support base. Therefore, State Government invites suggestions from citizens to put forward their innovative ideas and suggestions to develop an organised traffic system, which will be conducive to the smooth flow of men and help in minimising and eliminating of traffic congestion.

Last date for submission of ideas is 25th May, 2017

Govt of Assam should take the traffic problems of Silchar seriously. It is a grave problem in Silchar. It's time to take some radical measures now immediately, may be from tomorrow. It is the need of the hour. Barak Valley should not be neglected. Govt should understand that a large section of people are suffering.

Bus stops are cause if traffic jams and surprisingly many bus stops are either just at the beginning of a flyover or at the end of it leading to traffic snarls at these points since usualy there are more than 3 buses at every point. Shifting of bus stops away from the flyovers should help.

One of the biggest nuisances of traffic is erratic parking. I would suggest involving the public in controlling such irresponsible parkings by empowering a few responsible citizens in every area with the power to give a ticket to such people.
Another suggestion is that many major roads asks parking only on one side of the road. However most narrow lanes having two way traffic allow parking on both sides leading to frequent jams. This should be controlled.

Recently, another nuisance is growing, the unruly conduct of the taxi drivers. Mobile on ears with slow motion in search of location/destination has been creating obstacle to the normal traffic on the road. Rules to tackle such cases become important and should be formulated if needed and enforced.
Long terms solutions with Monorail/Metro should also be in place as soon as possible.

A compulsory monthly training on dos and don’ts to the city bus/tracker drivers and conductors should be offered from the administration, particularly on the issues of behaviors, hygiene, and rules. These training should be made pre-requisite for drivers and conductors.CCTV should be installed in all such valid bus stoppages and monitored centrally. Strict action should be taken on the driver/conductor for any violation of the rules.

Most of the existing city bus stoppages do not have sufficient space for parking/halting thus creating blockage/obstacle to the normal traffic on the road. All city bus stoppages should be distracted from the main road to a curvature track adjutant to the main road so that halting of the buses does not obstruct the main road traffic. The curvature track should accommodate 4/5 buses at a time.

Everything remains a discussion while people of Guwahati and Assam are choking in traffic. No parking sense no parking lot no traffic sense. A simple distance of 3 know takes 30 minutes. Infrastructure and road development is growing at a rate of third world. Only to make people happy do the branding that's what bjp has turned into .. zero work in Assam .

1:During rush hours(8:30 am to 10:30 am) rickshaw pullers, cart pullers etc i.e all slow vehicals should be restricted from main roads.During those two hours rickshaw pullers should strictly operate on byelanes and sublanes only.2:People should always follow lanes irrespective of open space available.3:Strong penalty should be levied by the gov. for those who do not follow traffic rules.4:Gov. should restrict/check sales/registration of new vehicals since more vehicals=more traffic.5:.........
