Every year on 5th of June, the world unites together to spread global awareness about various environmental concerns and bring about positive changes to protect our Mother Earth. A flagship programme of the United Nations with different themes every year, World Environment Day has been acting as a catalyst in raising awareness towards various environmental issues, climate change and global warming for more than 40 years. Keeping in with the same spirit of World Environment Day, Government of Assam on this wonderful day also strives to inculcate a sense of environmental consciousness in the people towards protection, conservation and restoration of our planet.
With the sole aim to foster and enable transformative changes, Government of Assam has taken up various initiatives in the past such as taking necessary steps towards making environment education a vital part of the school curriculum in the state, adoption of wildlife conservation initiatives, laying special emphasis on prevention of rhino poaching at Kaziranga National Park, planting of numerous saplings across the entire expanse of the state, encouraging the mass to practise sustainable development and also preserve the rich bio-diversity of the state for posterity.
On the occasion of World Environment Day on 5th June, Government of Assam is seeking suggestions and feedback and a roadmap from the citizens on ways to transform Assam into a greener, better and pollution-free state.

The Members of the Pine Mount Alumnae Association ( ghty Chapter) would urge upon Honourable Chief minister to give a notification banning use of plastic in Guwahati/Kamrup Dist and also to set up plastic bottle crushing machines in various locations. We recently had an Environment Awareness programme assisted by the Oil companies & indivuduals with the theme "Heal the World: Save the Planet". Banning use of plastic is one of our priorities. It can only be done with the assistance of the Govt.

It's high time that cleanliness and conservation of energy be achieved by promoting green technology in as many activities as possible.
For rural road construction,an excellent technology is coldmix produced by Assam based company Bitchem, promoted by SM Group. The coldmix tech saves energy consumption,is harmless to environment and laborers involved in construction of roads.Since there is no heating required at the plant, people are also saved from harmful charcoal fumes.

In this respects, with the help of environmental professionals in the particular area can be a part of this. Appointment in various departments including environment and forest, soil conservation, state pollution control board etc. should be conducted under APSC and inclusion of environmental science is necessary.

Without the people participation, any movement cannot be successful. In my view point is to encourage every citizen to participate this occasion by giving some encouragement. Only handful of Indian citizens knows the even " world Environment Day". To make mass movement, all school children, college students will encourage by giving prize who sapling plant on this day. All job seeker citizens encourage to sapling plant by giving job opportunities.
