Every year on 5th of June, the world unites together to spread global awareness about various environmental concerns and bring about positive changes to protect our Mother Earth. A flagship programme of the United Nations with different themes every year, World Environment Day has been acting as a catalyst in raising awareness towards various environmental issues, climate change and global warming for more than 40 years. Keeping in with the same spirit of World Environment Day, Government of Assam on this wonderful day also strives to inculcate a sense of environmental consciousness in the people towards protection, conservation and restoration of our planet.
With the sole aim to foster and enable transformative changes, Government of Assam has taken up various initiatives in the past such as taking necessary steps towards making environment education a vital part of the school curriculum in the state, adoption of wildlife conservation initiatives, laying special emphasis on prevention of rhino poaching at Kaziranga National Park, planting of numerous saplings across the entire expanse of the state, encouraging the mass to practise sustainable development and also preserve the rich bio-diversity of the state for posterity.
On the occasion of World Environment Day on 5th June, Government of Assam is seeking suggestions and feedback and a roadmap from the citizens on ways to transform Assam into a greener, better and pollution-free state.

উদ্যোগ সমূহৰ দ্বাৰা সৃষ্টি হোৱা জল, বায়ু আৰু শব্দ প্ৰদূষণ নিয়ন্ত্ৰণৰ ক্ষেত্ৰত ৰাজ্যিক প্ৰদূষণ নিয়ন্ত্ৰণ পৰিষদ কঠোৰ হোৱা উচিত ।
উদ্যোগিক ক্ষেত্ৰসমূহৰ চৌদিশে অতি কমেও ৫০ ফুট প্ৰস্হৰ সেউজ আবেষ্টনী,বৃক্ষ (ঔষধি আৰু বায়ু পৰিশোধক গছৰ সৈতে ) ৰোপনৰ দ্বাৰা গঢ়ি তুলিব লাগে। উদ্যোগিক ক্ষেত্ৰৰ বিভিন্ন গোট আৰু কাৰ্য্যালয়ৰ সমীপত ফুল গছৰ লগতে কম উচ্চতাৰ বায়ু পৰিশোধক গছ থকা উচিত বুলি ভাবো। এই ক্ষেত্ৰত পৰিৱেশ বিজ্ঞানীৰ পৰামৰ্শ লোৱা উচিত।

The Environmental science subject has been running by all colleges of assam since 2005. But no teacher has been appointed to teach environmental science. So creates post of teachers of environmental science.

অসমৰ মাননীয় শিক্ষামন্ত্ৰী মহোদয়ৰ দৃষ্টি আকৰ্ষণ কৰিব খুজিছো I অসমৰ মহাবিদ্যালয়ৰ স্নাতক মহলাত যদিও ‘পৰিবেশ অধ্যয়ন’ বিষয়টো আছে, প্ৰায়বোৰ মহাবিদ্যালয়ত সুকীয়া শিক্ষক নথকাত বিষয়টোৱে যথোপযুক্ত গুৰুত্ব পোৱা নাই আৰু বিশেষ লাভ হোৱা নাই ৷ গুৰুত্ব উপলব্ধি কৰি আৰু অসমত অৰ্হতা সম্পন্ন লোক থকালৈ লক্ষ্য ৰাখি পৰিবৰ্তনকামী চৰকাৰৰ মাননীয় শিক্ষামন্ত্ৰী মহোদয়ক পৰিবেশ বিজ্ঞানৰ অৰ্হতা সম্পন্ন লোকক স্থায়ীভাৱে নিযুক্তি দিবলৈ বিনম্ৰ অনুৰোধ জনালো I

Firstly, I would recommend organizing awareness programs in private and government offices regarding the necessity of environment protection and how we can also contribute for a clean, green and safe environment.
Secondly, medicinal plants and trees such as neem, eucalyptus, bamboo shoots etc which can help in lowering down the concentration air pollutants up to some extent should be planted as much as possible.

Being a student of earth science department . it is my appeal and humble request for the recruitment of qualified M.Sc environment science faculties on the permanent basis to teach the compulsory subject i.e environmental studies in the colleges and colleges should open the dept. of environmental science ... Because it is our responsibility to save our mother earth . .

Entrepreneurs can train villagers to build a bamboo dustbin at their home and put all the organic thrash on that dustbin and thereafter tranform the thrash in organic fertilisers. Swatch ghar and thereafter income genration through collection and processing of organic fertilisers from each village household.

Even vermi compost can be prepared through this idea. Clean your home and earn something out of it.

I feel that whatever theme is picked if we all can resolve to follow it throughout the year will bring in lot of improvement in our perspective and actions. I also feel that not just planting trees but also grass seeding is necessary as they are good soil binders. Local communities should be encouraged in conserving the community forest lands and sacred grooves extensively.
