The wetlands are vital parts of the hydrological cycle, are highly productive ecosystems which support rich biodiversity and provide a wide range of ecosystem services such as water storage, water purification, flood mitigation, erosion control, aquifer recharge, microclimate regulation, aesthetic enhancement of landscapes while simultaneously supporting many significant recreational, social and cultural activities, besides being a part of our rich cultural heritage.
Many wetlands are threatened by reclamation and degradation through drainage and landfill, pollution, hydrological alteration, over-exploitation of their natural resources resulting in loss of biodiversity and disruption in ecosystem services provided by wetlands.

The provided slogan here depicts a direct message for the people. The slogan clearly warns the people and wants their effective participation in conservation of wetlands.
There is a saying that half of the work depends on public participation and public awareness thatswhy the slogan conveys the message that only people can save or protect the environment for betterment of all.

I really want to thank Govt. of Assam especially assam.mygov.in platform for organizing such competition on behalf of World Wetlands' Day. Having single Ramsar Site in Assam the need for conserving wetlands is very much essential and crucial for ecosystem conservation. I have completed my M.Sc in Environmental Science and presently engaged in conservation of environment through sustainable ways.

Unite to preserve cities and Wetlands. Protect wetlands to build cities, not deserts. If wetlands disappear, we too will.
