Known for its strong and malty character, Assam Tea is valued for its rich taste, distinctive colour and flavour. No wonder, it has become one of the favourite teas across the world, particularly among the tea connoisseurs.
An intrinsic part of the Greater Assamese Society, the tea industry has played a significant role in shaping the region’s economy, generating substantial revenue through domestic consumption and exports. The production of tea in Assam rose up to 700 million kg in 2022, which is 52% of India’s production.
As a tribute to 200 glorious years of Assam Tea, and celebrate its impeccable taste and craftsmanship that have made it an icon in the global tea industry, Assam’s tableau in the upcoming 2024 Republic Day parade will showcase this enduring and rich heritage.

Assam is the largest tea growing region in the world in terms of production. It would be a great step to show a glorious tribute to our world famous tea on the Republic Day tableau. The tea industry can be called the lifeline of Assam which needs to be focused at the national level. It's a big step.
