Assam Inland Water Transport Development Society (AIWTDS) has been formed as an Apex Autonomous Body under the State Transport Department. The objective of this organisation is to manage, monitor, and coordinate the water sector of the State. The organisation is responsible for guiding the water sector in delivering as well as reforming water services.
It plays a key role in resource management and the smooth functioning of the inland water routes within the State, thus eliminating transportation bottleneck and maintaining proper navigability. This apart, the organisation also oversees the provision of rescue services and beautification of the surroundings to augment river tourism.
Inland water transportation is one of the many factors that attract investments to the State. It is cost-effective and eco-friendly in comparison to other modes of transportation. In view of this, AIWTDS also works towards strengthening the water transport network and facilitating easy movement for the people of the State. Capacity development and fleet modernisation also fall under its umbrella.
The Competition
Assam Inland Water Transport Development Society (AIWTDS) invites entries from interested persons for a logo design competition. This logo, which would be used as the official symbol of AIWTDS, shall help the organisation establish its unique identity. In a world that is going digital, the logo will also help the organisation leave a digital footprint of its actions, communications, and contributions manifested on the Internet.

The logo includes all the aspects of AIWTDS.
1.Boat indicates the water transport.
2.Map and river indicate the Assam Water Transport.
3.River dolphin(Xihu) is the city animal mascot.
4.Bridge represents the historical Saraighat bridge of Assam.

This logo contains both a boat and a ship which indicates the different levels at which inland water transport works . In the background a rising sun symbolises hope,happiness and aspirations from inland water transport which exists both in cities(on the left) and villages(on the right side).Finally a there is a rhino beside the house to relate the logo with Assam and AIWTDS written at the bottom.

Logo for Assam Inland Water Transport Development Society-it is the starting of the water transport as a part of the huge drop or world's large area of water; it is safe and secure.

The concept behind the Logo

The logo has been designed to project a contemporary image about the Department which is taking efforts to modernize its infrastructure.

1.The center boat steering wheel with spokes spreading out signifies networking/connecting places.

2. The blue Circle with waves is the river system in total.

3. The units assimilate together to form the dynamic yet distinct looking logo. Which projects a positive image about the Department.

The logo signifies-
The picture of the running rhino signifies Assam transport system because Assam is the home of rhino.The blue colour on the rhino signifies water.Its one horned head denotes a water vehicle ,a ferry.Cruise Ship,Boat and Sailboats are also common water vehicles in Assam which are potrayed in the logo.
