Assam is a potpourri of traditional cuisines, spanning across several indigenous communities. Each community has its own traditional recipes that have withstood the test of time and continue to be popular through generations. The presence of a wide range of traditional recipes has given Assam a unique identity of its own.

A recipe is not only a mere permutation and combination of ingredients; it is an emotion and a living example of our glorious heritage. In recent times, traditional recipes are garnering the much needed attention across many social media platforms. More and more people are now inclined towards including local herbs, spices, vegetables and fruits in their diet. This has resulted in successfully shifting the focus from mass produced ingredients to seasonal/local items grown in the state.

If you are a food enthusiast and love to experiment with traditional recipes of Assam, then share your recipes along with pictures with us. Out of these, 10 recipes will be featured across various social media platforms of MyGov Assam. Winners will also receive certificates of appreciation.

Last date of submission: June 10

Requirements: Individual name, contact details, recipe name and recipe photo.

Place the fish pieces in a clay pot. Add ginger, garlic, green chillies ,2tsp oil, salt, grilled
tomato,grilled dried chilli. Add lemon juice and mix. Add lemon roundels and half a cup of water.

Put the lid on and bring it to a boil, reduce the heat and cook for about four minutes.

Chop the coriander leaves along with their stems and mint leaves add it to the boiling fish. Cover once again and cook for one minute. Serve hot.
