Sportspersons from Assam have put up the name of the state and the nation on the world map in a glorious way by winning accolades in several prestigious sports events, such as World Championships, Asian Games, National Games, etc. What is worth-mentioning is the fact that most of the celebrated sportspersons of the state belong to the rural region. Due to the present government’s deep emphasis on sports sector, Guwahati has come to be known as the sports city of India.

In order to increase the quantity and quality of sports productivity in village areas, the people living there should be encouraged by offering scholarship and providing free education and food. As people living in the village are mostly unaware of the benefits of such program. Therefore small sports center should be open in each village and even the Panchayati System should boost the government sponsered sports programme.

If we need to hunt for sporting talent, we have to reach out far to the remote villages, so that we can include each of our people where they can exibit and showcase thier potential gaming skills. Proper guidance and infrastructure should be provided to them so that nurture their skill at per with other fellow sportsmen. This will also make them think and consider sports as a career.
