Every year, October 11 is celebrated as International Day of the Girl Child (Day of the Girl). This year the theme revolves around empowering girls before, during and after crisis. The theme aims to kick-start the year-long effort to drive international attention towards the challenges and opportunities faced by adolescent girls all over the world before, during and after crisis.

There are innumerable girls in every country who have immense potential and capabilities, but are often deprived from realising their dreams owing to certain unavoidable situations. The idea is to achieve a state of gender equality and meet the Sustainable Development Goals, while empowering the young minds and bringing down gender-based violence. By providing education to every adolescent girl child, the blockades they face in their life can be transformed into a sea of possibilities. This will enable them to give wings to their dreams and keep their basic human rights from getting violated.

By focusing on the programmes and schemes directed towards betterment of the adolescent child, an encouraging environment could be created where the adolescent girls would get a platform to rise above their challenges and utilise their potential to the fullest.

MyGov Assam solicits ideas on how to realise this vision into a reality and empower our adolescent girl child of the state.
