The 68th ‘Van Mohatsab’, the festival of tree will be celebrated throughout the state of Assam from July 1 to July 7, 2017. The week-long programmes include a large number of sapling plantation along with massive awareness drive on aforestation and its impact on the society and sustainable ecological balance. The idea behind this theme is to inspire people to go out and appreciate the beauty of the nature surrounding us.
As nature plays a vital role in our existence, it is our responsibility to protect and preserve it for our posterity. With this theme, let us pledge to appreciate the beautiful relationship we share with Mother Nature and marvel at the riches she bestowed on mankind. We can bring about a lot of positive changes in our environment through various ways such as planting a huge number of saplings to increase the earth’s green cover, practising waste management, reducing kitchen waste, using two separate dustbins for biodegradable and non-biodegradable products, saving electricity and water, using eco-friendly products, protecting the forest land and riverine life from plastic waste and pollution, replacing plastic bags, etc.
This Van Mahotsab Week, share with us your selfies while planting trees and help us create a green and clean Assam.
